Dr. Douglas Freedberg is board certified in orthopedic surgery, and specializes in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery. He enjoys teaming with his patients to help them understand their conditions and treatment options, thereby empowering them to manage their healthcare. He provides topnotch care for all, whether professionals in sports, or just in life.
Dr. Freedberg received his degree from the University of Arizona, where he also attended medical school. He stayed at the University of Arizona for his internship, and then completed his residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. For his fellowship, he went to the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, training under the direction of Drs. James Andrews and William Clancy.
Sports and Community Involvement
Over the years, Dr. Freedberg has helped provide team coverage across a variety of professional sports. He has assisted with the Oakland A’s, Arizona Cardinals, and Arizona Coyotes, as well as with numerous PGA, Nationwide, LPGA, and Champions golfers. Dr. Freedberg is involved with EXOS (formerly Athletes’ Performance), an elite training center for athletes of all sports. There, he helps evaluate many of the top NFL prospects looking to maximize their performance for the Combine, and works with MLB players getting ready for Spring Training. For professional golfers, Dr. Freedberg has offered medical coverage to the Phoenix Open and FBR Open, plus Senior Tradition and LPGA Safeway events.
Community involvement is also an integral part of Dr. Freedberg’s practice, and takes the form of Friday-night football game coverage and preseason physicals for Scottsdale high schools. Additionally, Dr. Freedberg is a volunteer mentor/preceptor to medical students and students of physician assistant, physical therapy, and nursing schools.
